at least 21 years ago that hubby and I spent the larger part of our holiday on our own. We spent a week in Wales and a week in Devon, we also had some days coming and going from one place to another. We wanted to stay in Wales as it was 34 years ago we met and lived in Victoria House Llangadog.
We had a lovely yellow cottage on a quiet street in Trecastle in National Park The Breacon Beacon , just cars coming and going into the hills.
We had a lovely view from our backyard overlooking The Black Mountain. We walked quite a bit and revisited that took our fancy. What we had not visited before was the Jen Jones Welsh Quilt Center.
On a bleak and rainy day we went to Lampeter. I really wanted to pay this centre a visit as Liset, beloved and appreciated member of the Bee I belong too, had passed away just shortly before our holiday. She had spoken of the centre with such enthusiasm, that I could not but visit.
This is not a quilt as such, but an embroidery by Eirian Short. The mat the dog is sitting on is embroidered and goes quite nicely with the fabric it is displayed on.
It was very impressive exhibition. We had a tour round the place and met someone who knew someone …from where we used to live. After some refreshments in the Old Town Hall ( taken on by Jen Jones for a symbolic fee) we went next door to Calico Kate. My word, only thinking about all this fabric in 12 rooms makes me break out in a cold sweat….
I only took two home 🙂
A patchwork in itself 😉
Lots of good memories!
